We are a group of like-minded professionals in the financial industry who witness almost daily the disastrous impact a poor understanding on basic topics like managing money, understanding credit, how to leverage insurance, and planning for retirement has had on our society. There are many others out there like us who want to see a stronger emphasis placed on educating our citizens around finance, especially our youth.
Although large financial institutions certainly deserve blame in the financial crisis of 2008, much of what happened could have been avoided by a better educated consumer base, less likely to fall prey to predatory lending and risky investments.
The world is asking for more responsible fiscal policies. They want to understand how to handle their personal finances, and we want to help them do it.
